Creative Journeys Artist Commission

Date published: 01/06/2017

Full Story:

Funding from Arts Council England has enabled Essex County Council to devise an exciting programme of work which will explore the role of arts and culture within care settings in developing and maintaining social and/or caring relationships between older people, older people and care staff, and care settings and the wider community.

The key aims of the programme are to:

Develop a sustainable model through shared knowledge and learning, which benefits care home residents.
Improve social relationships between residents and carers, improving wellbeing and health through creative engagement.
Provide evidence to highlight, and advocate for, the developmental benefits of ongoing integrated arts provision.
Broaden Essex artists opportunities for creative partnerships with local care homes and daycentres

The Artist commission seeks to contract two artists to work collaboratively to devise and deliver an intergenerational arts project with a school and care home in Rochford. The project is scheduled to run over 10 weeks during the Autumn school term (September – December 2017) Proposals must be submitted by two artists working together; we are not able to match you with another artist.

Magic Me, an arts charity specialising in intergenerational arts practice, will provide mentoring for the artists before, during and at the end of the project to support planning, delivery and evaluation. www.magicme.co.uk

The deadline for submissions is midday 16th June.
